Preschool Themes!

 The little goofy ones.

I LOVE that I get to plan for preschool classes each week and that comes with figuring out themes. Now teaching them on the other hand, I don't find as enjoying and there are special people in this world who love teaching preschool and are great at it! In our gym we have a few younger but awesome coaches who take on this role but they often struggle with the creative ideas it takes to make an engaging preschool program. I am good at planning and they are great at executing it! A perfect team. Hopefully this post can help you too!

My rules for coming up with themes each week is to set them up one year in advanced, stick with two specific themes and two general, and plan out four themes per month with four extra just in case. If you make a one year list, it prevents last minute planning or theme repetition. I find it easier because its one less thing I have to worry about from week to week. I suggest two general themes and two month specific themes to keep you from feeling crazy. Preschoolers won't know you didn't make 5 trips to the dollar tree to find just the right decorations for the week. Christmas time I do make an exception because, well, its just a fun time of the year! Lastly, don't forget there are more than 4 weeks in a month sometimes so have extras as back up.

Here are the themes we used for September, October, November, and December!

Disclaimer: I know my December themes heavily revolve around Christmas...keep in mind your demographic and location and adjust accordingly.

Happy Planning!

Jaclyn
